Tammi and the Bachelors (Bangar)

Tammi and the Bachelors were from Duluth, Minnesota. In 1964 the group released their only recordon the Bangar label. "My Summer Love" was included in the Girls in the Garage compilation series. I also enjoy the moody teen ballad "My Love" the group recorded for the flip side.

  1. very slow, very simple (and also very muffeled) but I'm afraid My LOve slowly and simply will grow on me.. today, nobody in any recording studio wherever in the world would let you cut a thing like this ...perfect for the final song of my private Artyfacts-compilation tho'..
as always: thanks for sharing Johnnie!

  2. Thank you Michael for your comments. I always appreciate your thoughts. The "My Love" side of the record is worn/scuffy but I felt it was still well worth remembering. I like the vocals on it. To me it has as slow dreamy teen surf sound. "My Summer Love" is very cool and I'm glad it was considered worthy to be included in the Girls In The Garage series.

  3. Wonderful small town recording on both sides! One thing that distinguishes some of these primitive regional records is that the drums are typically poorly recorded. That's one thing the big city studios could offer--the TLC accorded percussion. Small-label recordings typically feature drums that have a kind of sinister, muddy sound. Bruce Channel's "Hey Baby" is a rare #1 hit that showcases this kind of lowdown drum sound. Today's hipsters would kill to be able to get this kinda sound, ironically...

  4. Had I known of "My Love" in the early 70s while I was a member of a couple of bar bands I would have certainly closed the night with a Ladies Choice and would have been proud to sing this one.
Now at age 66 it makes me want to go back and re-work our sets adding obscure songs like this one found on the internet. No World Wide Web back then but, man, what I could do today.
